Protect your Family with a Disaster Plan
Disasters can happen anywhere and anytime. Is your family prepared in the event that a disaster would occur? Be prepared with a Family Disaster Plan so that you will be able to calmly protect yourself and your family until help arrives.
- Find out which disasters are most likely to occur in your area.
- Meet with your family to discuss the types of disasters and plan on what steps to take.
- Plan how to stay connected with your family by choosing a meeting place in case of fire or other disasters.
- Post emergency phone numbers by every phone in your house or program numbers into all cell phones.
- Decide which family member is responsible for turning off the utilities.
- Install a smoke detector and CO detector on each level of your home and learn first aid/CPR.
- Meet with your neighbors to work together on a plan, especially if the parents aren’t home for child care/help.
