Eight Ways To Make Yourself A More Likeable Agent

Take a critical look at your interactions with your clients. How do others perceive you? Here are eight tips on how to become more likable to gain and form long term relationships with your clients:

  1. Say the client’s name repeatedly throughout the conversation. This demonstrates both interest and respect for them.
  2. Give them the floor to speak first. You want to be able to listen to the person first to learn about them and their situation. Find out how you can help them before selling yourself.
  3. Mirror their body language. Try to subtly adopt the client’s posture, gestures, etc as this will help form a bond.
  4. Don’t focus on proving your competence. Make sure to actually take with your client and focus on finding something you have in common, this will help build a powerful bond with each other.
  5. Offer a favor that won’t immediately increase your bottom line. Find a way to help your client with a recommendation that doesn’t involve your business.
  6. Ask questions that require a longer, thoughtful response. Open-ended questions show the client that you’re listening and care about their response.
  7. Show you have interests outside of real estate. This will help expand your conversations and help focus on meaningful interactions with others.
  8. Validate people’s complaints. Listen and make others feel heard and understood, this will make you more approachable.
