7 Trends That'll Be In For 2017 And 3 That'll Be Out

If 2016 was a little unpredictable, 2017 is looking to be a boundary-pushing year for interiors. At least, that's what real estate website Trulia is seeing with their trend forecast for the coming year.

In:

  1. Matte Appliances: The new look of appliances is bold and speaks for itself adding depth to your kitchen design.
  2. Marble: The tile market is becoming dominated by marble material at industry shows.
  3. Cerused Wood: This finish refers to the technique that brings out the unique grain of wood. Originally in high end markets, it is finally trickling down to be more universally accepted.
  4. Jewel Tones: Say goodbye to beige, jewel tones such as emerald green, amethyst and pastel colors are becoming more popular.
  5. Nailhead Details: This trend is going beyond upholstery and into storage chests, credenzas, and even base plates for lighting fixtures.
  6. Subway Tiles: This is certainly not a new trend but is in fact a classic and versatile tile choice that works well with multiple styles.
  7. Smart Home Features: As our lives revolve around technology, soon so will our homes.

OUT:

  1. “Strictly” Antique: Décor from the same period only is a thing of the past. It’s more aesthetically intriguing to create a look with pieces from both the past and the future.
  2. Oversized Furniture: Space is always a premium, therefore, oversized furniture has become an inefficient use of space.
  3. Brushed Metal: These metals are a thing of the past while shiny, warm metals such as bronze and gold are becoming more popular and tend to add elegance to the space.
